Program Introduction

The Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry is a provincial nominee program designed to retain mid to high-skilled workers and graduates who are already living and working in Nova Scotia.

Program Advantages

It is the only express entry program offered by the province, making the application process faster than other provincial nominee programs. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in Nova Scotia and intend to permanently reside in the province.

Applicant Requirements

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 55 and have at least 12 months (1560 hours) of work experience in NOC 0, A, or B categories within 3 years prior to their application
  • The work experience must have been acquired while holding a valid work permit, and co-op work experience does not count. If the work permit held during the work experience accumulation period was an open work permit obtained through studying in Nova Scotia, it must have been obtained through a program of study in Nova Scotia.
  • The work must have been performed in Nova Scotia, and the employer must have been operating in the province for at least two years.
  • The company must also be paying taxes in Nova Scotia.
  • The program does not accept applicants in the following occupations: NOC 6311 restaurant and food service managers and sales jobs that are solely commission-based.
  • Applicants must demonstrate language proficiency by achieving a minimum CLB 7 (IELTS: 6 in each band; CELPIP: 7 in each band) for NOC 0 and A occupations, and a minimum CLB 5 (IELTS: Listening – 5, Reading – 4, Writing – 5, Speaking – 5; CELPIP: 5 in each band) for NOC B occupations.
  • Education: Applicants must have at least a high school diploma
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support the applicant and their family members
  • Applicants must also indicate their intention to live permanently in Nova Scotia.

 

Application Process:

  • The applicant must create a profile for the Express Entry (EE) application process.
  • The applicant must apply for the NSNP (Nova Scotia Nominee Program) under the skilled worker category.
  • Upon approval, the applicant will receive 600 points towards their EE profile.
  • The applicant must be selected through EE draw to receive an invitation to apply.
  • The applicant must submit their application for PR (if their work permit is expiring soon, they can apply for a bridging work permit to continue working in Canada).
  • The applicant will receive Canadian PR and successfully immigrate to Canada.
