Program Overview:

The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities is the latest provincial nomination program (PNP) opened by the Province of Nova Scotia on August 2, 2018, to meet the province’s labor market demands. The invited occupations for each round of invitations will vary based on the changes in Nova Scotia’s labor market demands.

Program Advantages:

  • No employer sponsorship required.
  • Relatively short processing time (about 6 months).
  • No Canadian work experience required.
  • Receive 600 additional points in EE (current candidates invited through EE only need 400+).

 

Applicant Requirements, meeting one of the following three criteria:

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW)

  • Have at least 1 year of full-time (1560 hours) or equivalent part-time work experience (0, A, B occupations) within the last 10 years before the application.
  • Submit an application form, supporting documents, and a business plan (within 90 days of receiving an ITA).
  • High school education or higher, with non-Canadian education requiring ECA certification.
  • Have sufficient settlement funds.
  • Score 67 points or higher on the comprehensive ranking system.

 

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Have at least 12 months of full-time (1560 hours) or equivalent part-time work experience (0, A, B occupations) in Canada within the last 3 years before the application.
  • The work experience must be acquired while holding a valid work permit (work experience obtained before graduation is not eligible).
  • High school education or higher, with non-Canadian education requiring ECA certification.
  • Meet language requirements:
    • NOC 0 or A: CLB 7 or higher in English or French (IELTS: 6 for four bands).
    • NOC B: CLB 5 or higher in English or French (IELTS: Listening 5, Reading 4, Writing 5, Speaking 5).

 

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)

  • Have at least 2 years of full-time (1560 hours) or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled trade (Major Group 72, 73, 82, 92; Minor Group 632, 633) within the last 5 years before the application. ▲ Obtain a job offer supported by an LMIA or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian province.
  • Achieve CLB 5 or higher in English or French for speaking and listening, and CLB 4 or higher for reading and writing (IELTS: Listening 5, Reading 3.5, Writing 4, Speaking 5).
  • High school education or higher, with non-Canadian education requiring ECA certification.
  • Have sufficient settlement funds (Annotation 2).

 

Obtain an LOI from Nova Scotia

  • Create an Express Entry profile.
  • Meet Nova Scotia’s labor market needs.
  • Indicate an intention to settle in Nova Scotia in the Express Entry profile.
  • Meet the settlement funds requirement for settling in Nova Scotia.
  • Have legal status in the country or region where currently residing.

 

Application Steps

Step 1: Create an Express Entry Profile

  • Applicants create their own Express Entry (EE) profile.
  • Indicate an intention to settle in Nova Scotia in EE profile.

Step 2: Apply for Nova Scotia Nomination

Receive an invitation from Nova Scotia, and submit a provincial nomination application to the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration within 30 days of receiving the invitation.

Step 3: Obtaining Nova Scotia Nomination

After carefully reviewing the application, the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration issues a provincial nomination letter and a work permit support letter (if required) to the applicant.

Step 4: Entering the Fast Track for IRCC Processing

Upon obtaining the provincial nomination, the applicant enters the IRCC processing stage for fast track processing.
