Program Overview:

The Ontario Entrepreneur Stream is an immigration program introduced by the government of Ontario. It aims to attract individuals who are interested in establishing businesses in Ontario, particularly in the fields of technology, energy, green technology, and environmental technology, to create new employment opportunities and promote the economic development of the province.

Applicant Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in managing or owning a business in the past five years;
  • Entrepreneurs must have a net worth of at least CAD 800,000 if investing in Greater Toronto Area or at least CAD 400,000 if investing in other areas, and at least CAD 400,000 if investing in ICT/digital communication sector);
  • Investment of at least CAD 600,000 in Greater Toronto Area or CAD 200,000 in other areas, with a minimum ownership of 33.3% of the business (CAD 200,000 in ICT/digital communication sector);
  • Must actively participate in the management of the company;
  • If purchasing an existing business, the entrepreneur must conduct a business exploration trip to Ontario;
  • Create employment opportunities, with at least 2 full-time jobs in Greater Toronto Area or 1 full-time job in other areas or in ICT/digital communication sector;
  • Language proficiency at CLB 4 (approximately equivalent to IELTS 4).

Application Process:

  • Assessment and signing of immigration agency contract;
  • Submission of Expression of Interest (EOI) to Ontario;
  • Receipt of invitation to apply (ITA) from the Ontario Immigration office;
  • Submission of provincial nomination application;
  • Participation in an interview arranged by the Ontario Immigration office;
  • Signing of Performance Agreement with Ontario after passing the interview;
  • Application for a work permit;
  • Establishment of the business in Ontario;
  • Receipt of provincial nomination certificate;
  • Application for permanent residency to the federal government;
  • Completion of medical examination and background check;
  • Receipt of immigration visa and become a permanent resident of Canada.
